This volume consists of contributions to the Symposium on "Plant Health and the European Single Market", held at the University of Reading, England, from 30 March to 1 April 1993 under the auspices of the British Crop Protection Council, the Association of Applied Biologists and the British Society for Plant Pathology. The main objectives were A. To review the events in plant health and developments in the scientific basis of plant health measures since 1978. B. To elucidate the changes embodied in the new plant health regulations of the European Community which come into effect on 1 June 1993, and, C. To achieve with these proceedings a volume which will provide a useful work of reference on plant health for many years to come.
