The Compact is a voluntary agreement that sets out shared principles for effective partnership working between the Government (and their associated Non-Departmental Public Bodies, arm?s length bodies and Executive Agencies) and voluntary and civil society organisations in England. This report examines the implementation of the national Compact by central government departments following its renewal in December 2010. The findings are based on work at nine departments, representing 98 per cent of central government?s expenditure with the civil society. The civil society sector was also consulted. Appendix One sets out the detailed methodology for this work.
